Exam Success Tips #3 - Results Oriented Revising

Hello ,

Do you want to get better results?

Do you want to discover how to revise the smart
way?

Well, Mohamed you're about to learn how!

--------------------------------------------------
EXAM SUCCESS TIPS # 3
--------------------------------------------------

Before we begin...

1) Re-access your calm, confident curiosity

2) Activate your imagination!

(Do this every time you learn!)

In my life, I am fortunate.

I've studied with some of the greatest learning
geniuses on the planet, and they've taught me
awesome ways to learn more effectively.

Now I'm going to share an awesome technique with
you...

One of the World's leading experts on how people
learn, Dr Richard Bandler, taught me following
technique for helping people plan to succeed.

(I've customised this technique so you can use it
to help with your exams)

--------------------------------------------------
EXAM TECHNIQUE - Success Based Planning
--------------------------------------------------

Do this now:

1) To begin, take a few deep breaths and relax.

Breathe slowly and deeply and calm yourself.

As you do, focus your awareness two inches
below your belly button. You'll notice that
doing this makes you feel centered.

2) Next, using your imagination, imagine floating
into the future to the time just after your get
your exam results.

3) Vividly imagine seeing your results and
realising you've done brilliantly!

Really imagine it - like it's just happened and
you are glad and delighted. Vividly imagine this.

Take a few moments to enjoy your feelings of
success.

4) Now, from this time in your future, turn
around and look back towards the now. Notice all
the steps you took and all the things you did,
to get to this time in your future.

Pay particular attention to the way you revised
and prepared yourself for the exam. Take a few
moments to notice everything you need to.

(As you do this, you don't have to be fully aware
of every detail - your mind can fill in the
details as it discovers them!)

4) Once you've done that, return back to the present
time.

Pause for a moment and relax... then look into
your future and see all the steps you are *going* to
take to get great results, leading to your success
in the future.

--------------------------------------------------
CONGRATULATIONS!
--------------------------------------------------

You've just used your mind to help you plan
for more success in your exams.

You can do this technique every day.

Starting with the solution, then figuring
out how you got there is a powerful way
to help you plan to get better results.

--------------------------------------------------
Revising for Results
--------------------------------------------------

When it's time to revise, it's important to
realise that good revision is about *preparing* you
to be successful in your exams.

This is *different* to usual studying and
learning, As you revise, it's smart to focus on
what will get you the best results.

Ask the question:

--------------------------------------------------
What do you have to do to get great results?
--------------------------------------------------

To be successful in your exams, it's really
helpful to know as much about each exam as
possible:

For each exam, it's smart to find out:

a) **Exactly what the exam is about**

- What topics will you be questioned on?
- What facts, formulas or diagrams you
need to know?
- How will you be expected to answer
questions? (Do you have to write essays,
or is sentences with bullet points
acceptable.... Are you supposed to use
a lot of examples....)

b) **Exactly how to answer the questions in
the ways that give you the most marks**

- Ask your teachers or lecturers to give
you examples of perfect answers and describe
why they are good. Learn from them.
- Find out what criteria are used for
marking the exam, so you know how to answer
in the right way.

c) **What different areas of the exam are worth
and what each exam is worth (relative to your
overall grade)**

- For example, if there are two sections
in an exam, and one is worth 70% of the total
mark, and the other is worth 30%, then it's
obviously worth spending more time preparing
for the section worth the most.
- The same principle applies when you have
more than one exam in a subject, and each
is worth a different amount.

Once you have this information, you can plan
how to spend your time and energy in proportion
to what will help you be most successful.

--------------------------------------------------
Revise the wise way
--------------------------------------------------

Keep in mind, as you revise, your purpose is:

"To prepare yourself to answer the exam questions
in the ways that get you the best results."

Thus, in your revision, it's smart to:

- Focus on the areas that will give you the most
marks first (before studying the other areas)

- Use your imagination to help you memorise the
most valuable facts, figures and formulas first
(before studying the other areas)

- Do practice questions, and as you answer them,
practice answering in ways that will give you
the most marks.

- Become skillful in answering practice questions
really well.

(Note: If you have loads of practice questions,
you can answer some them in note form, including
the most important elements. This way you'll
be able to cover and practice more in less time.)

--------------------------------------------------
Input and Output: Read and Review
--------------------------------------------------

Many people find that through combining reading
and reviewing information with answering questions
is a good technique for revising.

Once you've covered the most important areas that
are most valuable in terms of marks in your exams,
afterwards you can focus on the other areas.

--------------------------------------------------
Start with great information
--------------------------------------------------

When revising, it's really helpful to begin by
getting all the right notes / books / practice
questions / practice exams and all the information
you need to review, so you have it at your finger
tips.

If you need to, get friends or teachers to give
you notes for lessons you missed. Get the books
you need out from the library or buy them in a
local bookstore.

--------------------------------------------------
Plan To Succeed - Plan Your Revision
--------------------------------------------------

Once you know what you need to do to get great
results, and you have all the information you
need at your finger tips, make a revision plan.

Your revision plan is a guide for you on how to
use the time you have available between now
and each exam.

Keep your plan simple - it's just a guide. for you!

To start, figure out how much time you can spend
revising. (Make sure you include enough time to
take care of yourself; get enough sleep, eat
healthily, exercise - these all help you to be at
your best!)

Then split the time available between your
different subjects, based upon which subjects
or areas are worth most for your overall grade
and make yourself a timetable of what you'll
study and when.

If you are covering multiple subjects, it's
usually useful to spend some time on each every
day. This gives your brain the chance to review
each subject every night as you sleep.

You may find that sleeping on what you've learned
helps you integrate the information and solve
problems more easily. Many people discover, as
they do this, that they wake up with better
understandings and answers than the day before.
